Vodafone unveils its first 4G tablet

The Vodafone Smart Tab 4G is an eight-inch tablet that is essentially a slightly tweaked version of the 3G-only Vodafone Smart Tab 4 that hit shelves in June.
Along with 4G LTE support, the new tablet also comes with a new HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. The 3G version of the tablet was powered by a MediaTek 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
The camera has also received an upgrade. The Smart Tab 4G sports a 5 megapixel camera – up from the 2 megapixel sensor found in the Smart Tab 4.
Other than that, it’s pretty much the same tablet as the one that launched in June – including Android 4.4 KitKat and the 4060mAh battery.

So how much will Vodafone’s 4G tablet set you back? If you want to buy the tablet, up front, it’ll set you back £125. That’s less than rival EE’s Eagle tablet (which sells for £209.99) and even Tesco’s newly announced Hudl 2 tablet.
It’s also available on monthly plans. For 1GB a month, you’ll be looking at £17 per month with a £29 downpayment. That’s the same as the 3G Smart Tab 4

Notion Ink quietly releases Cain, a 10.1-inch Windows 8 tablet

The Notion Ink Adam was a tablet with big dreams, but it hit the market with a loud flop. It's successor, the Adam II, whooshed by with almost no public notice at all. Now the company is back, but it's not trying to redesign the Android tablet anymore. No, this time the company is building a Windows 8 tablet: the Notion Ink Cain. The Cain is a 10.1-inch, 1.8GHz Intel Atom-powered tablet with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage and a detachable magnetic keyboard. Despite a sleek design and a rather snazzy folding keyboard case, however, the Cain appears to be a fairly straightforward implementation of Windows 8: no custom apps, or skinned interface included. Less bold than the company's other ventures, but less risky too.
There's no mention of the new tablet on Notion Ink's website, but it's currently available for order at Snapdeal, one of India's most popular online marketplaces. Interested? The slate can be had for 19,990 Indian Rupees, or about $327. Check out the full product page at the source link below.

Amazon shows off new tablets and e-readers

Amazon's been busy - the online retailer's launched a raft of new slates and a shiny new operating system to boot.
Tablets
First up are the new tablets include the Fire HD, the Fire HDX, and the Fire HD Kids Edition, the latter designed to take a beating from toddlers.
Amazon says its Fire HD slate is 'the most powerful tablet under $100.' Fighting talk aside, the 6-in tab shows off a 252 ppi display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, front- and rear-cameras, and five spiffing colour options.
The Fire HDX is the Fire HD's meaner big brother, pricing up at a far heftier $379, and touting a 2.5GHz CPU, an 8.9-in 339ppi display, dual-cams, and the Firefly product recognition software.

The final tablet is the Fire HD Kids Edition, which comes with a 'no questions asked' worry-free 2 year guarantee that'll see Amazon swap out your slate should it get busted up by your child.
The Kids Edition costs $149 for the 6-in version, and promises a quad-core processor, a HD display, and a thick, blue, bonus bezel to add a bit of ruggedness.
E-readers
Next up, Amazon's also made two new additions to its e-reader line-up with the Kindle and Kindle Voyage.
The Kindle prices up at a wallet-coddling $79, with the update seeing a 20% nippier CPU, doubled storage, and a touch-screen display.
The Kindle Voyage is a slightly more jazzed up affair, sporting a $199 price tag and a promise of being the thinnest Kindle yet.
The 7.6mm svelte slate uses a 'next-gen' 300ppi Paperwhite display, a flush glass design, and most excitingly, a free 3G connection that Amazon foots the bill for.
New OS
Amazon's latest operating system, Fire OS 4, is tagged under the name 'Sangria', and will be available for free on all Fire HD and Fire HDX slates.
"When we think about Fire OS, we start with what matters to customers - ease of use and performance," says Dave Limp, Amazon's Senior VP of Devices.
"Fire OS 4 improves in both of these areas, and deeply integrates software, content, and the Cloud to deliver services that are only available from Amazon, including Family Library, Firefly, and free cloud storage for photos."

Xiaomi Redmi Note confirmed in new teaser

Details on the Xiaomi Redmi Note have been slowly leaking with a midnight teaser confirming the device and its specifications.
The upcoming smartphone will sport a 720p resolution, 5.5-inch screen and an octa-core processor.
Previous rumours also suggest that it will have 3G network capabilities and 1GB RAM.
Rumors about the successor to the Redmi instantly spread when Xiaomi had a new smartphone approved by the Chinese government network regulator Tenaa.
Xiaomi recently sold an estimated 5,000 units of the first Redmi in eight minutes in Singapore and the most popular Chinese smartphone maker is expecting the second Redmi will achieve the same success.
The ‘Note’ in the title suggests that the upcoming device could come with a stylus – we’ll have to wait and see.
The price of the new Redmi may be somewhere between of $100 to $250.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note will be able to pre-order in China at 8pm local time on March 19 whilst everyone else will have to wait until it crops up online.
Stay tuned as T3 will keep you posted on any updates.

Lenovo Yoga Tablet offers three modes and great battery life

xl_Lenovo Yoga Tablet lifestyle.jpg
The Lenovo Yoga Tablet features a unique design that incorporates a curving battery cylinder at one end - with a built-in kickstand – while the rest of the tablet tapers down to a mere 3mm in thickness. The result is a form factor that’s incredibly flexible through its three unique modes: Hold, Tilt and Stand.

The Stand mode means that whether you want to sit back and stream a film, get your hands mucky following a recipe or jam along on your instrument of choice, the tablet will stand independently as the perfect digital accessory.

When gripping the tablet by the battery cylinder, the weight of the Yoga is centred on your palm, which in turn lets you grip it for longer – useful when reading an e-book or browsing your favourite sites.

Finally, the tilt mode lets you lie the tablet down flat to make it easier to use when it comes to typing or gaming.

Both the 10.1-inch Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 and the portable 8-inch Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 have impressive specifications to match the clever design. High definition displays mean that movies, TV shows and websites look consistently impressive and, thanks to in-plane switching (IPS) both models offer an unrestricted 178-degree viewing angle.

Backing up the visuals is the strong audio performance on both tablets courtesy of front-facing speakers and Dolby Digital Plus enhancement. Unlike other tablets that keep speakers at the rear, the extra clarity from Lenovo’s Yoga range adds an extra dimension to movie watching.

The aforementioned versatility wouldn’t be much use if the Lenovo Yoga tablets didn’t have the stamina to keep up. But, along with giving the tablet range its eye-catching design, the powerful cylindrical battery gives you up to 18 hours to play with, based on Lenovo’s own testing.

Naturally, you’ll find all the connectivity required in a modern tablet here as well. Both the Yoga Tablet 8 and the Yoga Tablet 10 feature integrated Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-fi and GPS. And, since both models are available with optional 3G HSPA+ connectivity, there’s no need to ever stray out of touch.

If you want to video chat through Skype or any other service, the Lenovo Yoga tablets both incorporate a forward-facing 1.6MP camera that offers a crisp and detailed picture. You can also stand the Lenovo Yoga up and use the rear-facing 5MP camera to capture high definition images in a variety of situations.

There are thousands of apps to choose from that open up all kinds of new uses for the Yoga tablets. And because both models offer expandable storage via a Micro-SD card, you never have to worry about running out of space. The Lenovo Yoga 8 and Lenovo Yoga 10 both offer 16GB of native on-board storage but can be upgraded with up to 64GB of micro-SD support.

You’ll find much more information, and the ability to purchase a Yoga tablet right away, at lenovo.com
Also, why not head over to T3.com's competition to try and win yourself one of three brand new Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablets.

μWave:First micro wave hack that let you watch youtube video

We saw all sorts of geeky devices and hacks in the past, but today we have a hack that will make cooking more fun, especially if you’re fan of microwaves and YouTube videos
.

Today we have a microwave hack that combines cooking with YouTube videos thanks to the built-in tablet. Students from University of Pennsylvania created a microwave hack called μWave, and this hack combines Arduino with a TouchPad that is built in to the microwave door. As you’ve probably guessed it, the sole purpose of this tablet is to watch videos on it while you’re cooking food, but what makes μWave special is the fact that the microwave itself searches the videos instead of you. That’s right, the oven will analyze the time that is required for cooking of your food, and it will automatically find and play a YouTube video that matches the cooking time of your microwave.

Google to Launch the New Nexus 10 Tablet Next Week

Nexus-10

There have been precious few details on Google’s second-generation Nexus 10, but new reports are now suggesting that the 10-inch tablet could go on sale as early as next week.
A product page for the device was temporarily listed on the Google Play store earlier this week, indicating the tablet would go on sale Nov. 21. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Google has since deleted the page from its website.
The story was first spotted by Ubergizmo, although the tech website has since removed its article on the issue.
Little is known about the second-gen Nexus 10 at this time — although a recent leak claimed that the device comes with the same 2560 x 1600 resolution display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU and 3GB of RAM. It is also expected to launch with Android 4.4 Kit Kat, the latest iteration of Android that is now available for most other Nexus tablets.
The tablet launch could coincide with some other major Google news, however, with the tech giant reportedly planning to announce some important changes on the way tablet apps are discovered on Google Play.
