The onslaught of spring smartphone device launches have started and the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the first to begin its round of pre-orders.
If you just can’t wait, you can head to AT&T and pre-order Samsung’s new flagship device for $200 on a new two-year contract, or $650 in full. If you’d rather just pay if off monthly, you can start at $25 a month for 18 months or $32.50 a month for a year with AT&T Next. The Galaxy S5 will be available in black or white and features a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, and a 2,800 mAh battery pack. Its TouchWiz version of Android 4.4. KitKat also comes with a bevy of new software additions.
The Gear 2 will be available for $300, while both the Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit can be purchased for $200. All three of Samsung’s smart watches feature a heart rate monitor, but there are several differences between each model. AT&T will also chip off $50 from your order if you purchase both the Galaxy S5 and one of Samsung’snew Gear smart watches before June 5.
T-Mobile and US Cellular will also open up pre-orders. US Cellular customers can pre-order the Galaxy S5 beginning March 21 for $200 with a two-year contract, and the carrier will throw in a $50 Google Play gift card. T-Mobile will start pre-orders on March 24 and will offer the handset for $27.50 a month for 24 months. Remember that the Galaxy S5 is officially on sale April 11.
All this comes at a completely opportune time for consumers. HTC will announce the next iteration of its HTC One flagship handset on March 25, with rumors that it will go on sale immediately, while companies like LG and Sony will likely follow suit with their own domestic phone releases. It’s a good time to be an Android user.
