4K Dell P2815Q 28-inch monitor

dell-p2815q-etDell made waves at CES this year when it announced it would have a 4K monitor available for well below the $1,000 mark, actually hitting a supposed $699.99 MSRP. Not only did Dell achieve this, but this new display just went on sale and we found a coupon that works for it.
The new P2815Q is by far the cheapest way to take part in the 4K revolution. This 28-inch beauty serves up 3840×2160 resolution with LED backlighting and a non-glare finish. It supports HDMI/MHL, Mini DisplayPort, and DisplayPort inputs to cover all the digital bases, along with a four port USB 3.0 hub that includes a 1.5A charging port for your mobile devices. Dell clearly intended you to be able to plug a mobile device into this, perhaps for an on-the-go presentation station?

You get a fully adjustable stand that allows for the full range of tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments, including a portrait mode that gives you impressive vertical real estate. As always, the stand can be removed in lieu of a wall mount. This ridiculously high resolution piece of kit is backed up by a 3 year advance exchange warranty, ensuring fast replacement and zero shipping costs for you.
All of this is downright amazing at a list price of $699.99, but there are a few caveats for the truly discerning professionals. This is not a wide color gamut display, unlike the well-known UltraSharp lineup, which is part of why the 4K 24-inch UP2414Q costs over $1,000 and the larger P2815Q does not. Dell also eschews the premium IPS panel technology for a TN-type panel; while we bemoan the loss of IPS, a single user won’t notice as much and that is the price we pay for not paying well over $1,000. Lastly, the P2815Q also has to make do with a 30Hz refresh rate at full 4K resolution. This is another change the average user won’t notice much, but is one that eliminates gamers from considering this budget-friendly 4K monitor.
